A second outing - with guests on board

Date: May 10, 2025
Weather: Blazingly sunny, with a few sprinkles of rain
Waters: Choppy
On board: C, A, B, M, D and R

It is a long weekend, and with the feeling like it is stretching ahead of us, we invited some friends - a couple and two of their children - on board for our second outing on this boat.

D, the elder of the two, and his dad B, have been on our previous boat, Little Wanderer 2 and even fished off her. M, the mum, and the other son, R, are first-timers with us.

The hosts!

The photogenic guests!

It as a fairly late start, from around noon, so we didn't plan to go far ... just back to our usual spot off Singapore's north-western coast. We stayed afloat for around two hours or so, just chatting, chowing on snacks of feta cheese, some burgers, Prosecco and soft drinks for the younger ones.

The water-safe younger ones did jump off the boat. The deep green waters seemed acceptably clean today ... until we all saw a carcass of some sort float by, decomposed beyond recognition and headless. The body (still bearing fur, yuck) was in one piece and the four legs were still suspended below the surface of the water. Boar? Deer? Dog? No one knows.

D on the swim ladder at aft.

R replicating Chinese water torture
on his dad B ... with an ice cube.
Note the overcast sky.

Nature watch: Saw several Brahminy kites soaring over the army training area and swooping low over the water.

It was blazingly hot, but the rain clouds that were hanging over Johor Bahru to the north of us were never far away. We did feel some sprinkles, but nothing serious enough to wash out the outing.

M took this shot with her iPhone.
It makes our humble 21-footer vessel
look HUGE!

The trip back to home base, Raffles Marina.

What C thought were post-trip ablutions on the boat turned out to be fun for the two boys, who volunteered to spray her down. Kids and water, sigh.

R sprays down the anchor housing.
